Mapping It Out: Providing Victim Services for Incarcerated Survivors

Recorded November 16th, 2017.

Join the Resource Sharing Project (RSP) and Just Detention International (JDI) for an informative new webinar, “Mapping It Out: Providing Victim Services for Incarcerated Survivors.” We will answer victim advocates’ most pressing questions about how to help prisoners who have experienced sexual abuse — either during their incarceration or at some other point in their lives. The webinar will cover how to launch a program to serve incarcerated survivors, giving tips on how to negotiate agreements with corrections facilities, what types of services you might consider offering, and how to maintain client confidentiality in a detention setting. “Mapping It Out” will introduce a written guide to help advocates who are new to working with survivors behind bars. The webinar will feature speakers from RSP and JDI, as well as an advocate from a rural rape crisis program that provides services to inmates in a local corrections facility. We will allow ample time to take your questions, and will point you to additional resources and opportunities for technical assistance.
